A Fall Quilt

Each fall, I’ve been sewing a few rows of this homey blanket.  I’m using a pattern called Vanilla Creme produced by The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

I liked this fabric, so I’m building the quilt around this fall design. I found a single bed 100% wool blanket at a second hand store that will be the batting. I have three rows sewn together and three more to go.

Yeah, so I have a million projects going at one time.  I’ll keep you posted on the progress!

Happy Friday!

“My Guy” Quilt in Progress

While I feel the push to complete this queen size quilt, I also felt the need to create another design wall in the sewing cabin.  The new design wall is just to the right of the sewing machine and really easy to access.

Over the years I’ve been working on this quilt, I’ve been adding new shades of blue fabric to it.  I have four rows sewn, and three more rows to go.

I’m looking forward to using the new design wall!  The possibilities are endless.

Hope the pieces of your life are coming together for you!

The Latest Tote Bag in Progress

I have another tote bag I’m upcycling.  This is the layout of the antique light blue fabric pieces before they were sewn together.

This is what one side of the bag looks like after the blue pieces were sewn together and secured in place using a glue stick. Next, I will use a buttonhole stitch to secure these pieces to the tote.

I hand pieced this star patch, and I am using it on the other side of the tote bag. I will show you what the bag looks like after I have button hole stitched these pieces in place.

Happy Monday!

Hope you have a good week!

Hand Quilting a Lap Blanket

I’ve been working on this Lap Blanket made of antique quilt blocks for a relative who is receiving medical treatments at this time.

Some people like to make meals for others, some do thoughtful acts of service for others, I like to make blankets for people.  When I want someone to be protected, cozy, warm, and to know they are cared for through what ever they are going through, I like to make a hand crafted blanket to bring “comfort.”

This is my way of showing someone I care.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Making a Wall Decoration

I found a set of napkins made by Vera at the Eugene, Oregon, Goodwill Store.  I decided the pattern picks up the look in the bathroom I just finished painting, so I am hand quilting the design.

This is what I have done so far.  I’ll show you what it looks like when it is finished and hanging in the bathroom.

Hope you’re having a great day!

Finished Upcycled Sunflower Tote

The Upcycled hand tote is almost finished.  I am thinking of adding a buttonhole stitch around the inner petals.  I like the coloring of the fabric and how the hand piecing turned out on the sunflower, even with the imperfection of extra fabric in the center.

Hope you’re having a good day wherever you are and whatever you are doing!

Upcycling Another Tote

I found yet another tote bag from a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) Conference. This canvas bag is from 2013.

I’m using fabrics I found around my cabin.

I am using the Marti Michell Sunburst Block Perfect Patchwork Templates Set F for the Sunflower pattern.

This is what is done so far.

I am hand piecing together a Sunburst Block for each side of the tote, and then I will hand applique the block onto the bag.

I will show you what it looks like when it is finished.

Happy September!
