Along Highway 38 West

On the way to Coos Bay, Oregon…I took the scenic Highway 38 West, which turned out to be a beautiful drive along a winding road with lakes, streams, steep hills, rocky cliffs, and a gracious amount of passing lanes. There was road work being done, and I’m pretty sure I saw Gandolf dressed as a traffic guide in yellow rain slickers.  His sign said, STOP on one side and SLOW on the other.  I thought about asking him if I could take his picture…but then I thought otherwise.  It really did look like a modern take of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

It was a joy to stop for a break at this spot…Dean Creek:  Elk Viewing Area.

The dry and marshland is owned by the US Government.  The Elk, Canadian Geese, other birds, and creatures were beautiful to watch roaming freely in their natural habitat.

I enjoyed watching the elk sparring with each other,

the Canadian Geese floating with ease,

and the pretty streams running through the land.

I thought you might enjoy seeing these pictures!

Have a good day!
