A Jacket My Mom Made Back In The Day
To honor my Mom’s Birthday today, I want wish her a great day, and I want to thank her for teaching me how to sew.
I learned to sew by watching my mom make clothes. My mom made this coat and a pencil skirt of the same fabric for herself when I lived at home. As I went through high school, I borrowed the jacket from time to time, and it has stayed with me as I moved to Oregon.
My Mom was a good seamstress. She made prom dresses, summer dresses and tops for five daughters, and clothes for herself.
Interestingly enough, I am not good at making clothes. I like the crafty and creative side of side of making blankets.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Thanks for being a talented, thrifty, and creative person. And thank you for teaching me to sew. Your skills in working with fabric and taking me to Roaring River Mills and other fabric stores has stayed with me to this day.
