I Give Thanks

I Give Thanks When Things Work Out In Life!

I met a woman named Mary from Oklahoma this week. We both made the Lewis and Clark Block of the Month Quilt through Hancock Fabric Stores.

This is the Lewis and Clark Quilt I made and posted on my blog about a year ago.

Mary saw my quilt and contacted me through my blog, because the quilt she made was chewed by a pet, as shown below.

Mary

Mary wanted to fix the quilt, but she wasn’t having much luck finding  the matching fabric when she contacted me.

Lewis and Clark Picture of Fabric II

Never one to let go of good fabric, I found the bag of extra Lewis and Clark Fabric from this quilt (pictured above).  We were in luck…I had the replacement materials Mary needed.  I packaged them up and mailed them to her.  She emailed me to say she received the package today!

I’m grateful for positive and helpful  ways to connect with others in this electronic format.

I give thanks for Mary and for when things work out; I think it’s cool how the pieces of life came together this week!

She’s Such a Doll

The Green and Purple Charming Coins Doll Quilt is Finished!

P1100933

What started out looking like this…

Charming Coins Purple And Green Quilt II

has turned into a cute little quilt for a doll!

P1100989

This summer my neighbor gave me this fabric (pictured below).  As I looked around my sewing cabin all of these colors started coming together until I saw the quilt take shape in my mind.  I enjoyed working with the color arrangement of fabric pieces for this quilt!

P1100939

I usually can envision what the finished project will look like before I’ve even cut the fabric.  The top is machine pieced together, marked with Crayola Washable Markers, and hand quilted with purple thread.

To create the shrinking around the hand quilting, I used 100% cotton batting and washed the quilt in warm water and dried it in a dryer when the edging was tacked in place!

Hope the pieces of life are coming together for you!

A Fun Children’s Toy

P1100769

Looking for a simple and alternative children’s toy?

Try a box of fabric scraps of different fabrics, textures, colors, sizes, and shapes. Children four and under love playing with the sensory box of fabric scraps when they come to my house!

P1100766

The colors, the textures, the random play, and the easy clean up make playing with this toy a lot of fun!  I can honestly say, this fabric box is played with every time we have little people to our home!

Happy Monday!

What I’m Working On

Two Charming Coins Doll Quilts

P1100928  P1100933

I like using the flannel wall, because it helps me to see the best color arrangement.

P1100939

These quilts were inspired by a piece of fabric my neighbor gave me this summer.  This is the fabric both quilts have in common.   I used two little squares of this fabric in each row.

Charming Coins Purple And Green Quilt II

I machine pieced the tops, used 100% cotton batting, and marked each top with Crayola Washable Coloring Markers.  I’m making progress on the hand quilting.

The blue quilt is done!

I’ll show you the other doll quilt as soon as I’ve finished the quilting and tacked the edging in place!

Blessings on your day!

A Good Thought

I light a candle for this thought written by Gregory Maguire:

P1100755

“Sometimes people from worlds apart come together for an hour, and for an hour learn to speak each other’s language, before they forget it again.”

This quote is found in the Foreward of The Mary Poppins Celebrating the 80th Anniversary Collection of Books regarding Maquire’s personal visit with P. L. Travers.

I give thanks for moments like these.

All Hallow’s Eve Activity

It was a joy to pick out a pumpkin and to carve it with my 22 month old grand daughter this year!

It is, also, the First Anniversary of starting this blog!

Many thanks to those who follow my blog and to those who stop by when you can!

I have enjoyed a year of posting on the quilts I have finished and the ones I am still working on.  Not to worry…I have many more tops to show you yet!

Wishing you the very best!
