I Give Thanks

I Give Thanks When Things Work Out In Life!

I met a woman named Mary from Oklahoma this week. We both made the Lewis and Clark Block of the Month Quilt through Hancock Fabric Stores.

This is the Lewis and Clark Quilt I made and posted on my blog about a year ago.

Mary saw my quilt and contacted me through my blog, because the quilt she made was chewed by a pet, as shown below.

Mary

Mary wanted to fix the quilt, but she wasn’t having much luck finding  the matching fabric when she contacted me.

Lewis and Clark Picture of Fabric II

Never one to let go of good fabric, I found the bag of extra Lewis and Clark Fabric from this quilt (pictured above).  We were in luck…I had the replacement materials Mary needed.  I packaged them up and mailed them to her.  She emailed me to say she received the package today!

I’m grateful for positive and helpful  ways to connect with others in this electronic format.

I give thanks for Mary and for when things work out; I think it’s cool how the pieces of life came together this week!

The Green and Purple Charming Coins Doll Quilt is Finished!

What started out looking like this…

Charming Coins Purple And Green Quilt II

has turned into a cute little quilt for a doll!

This summer my neighbor gave me this fabric (pictured below).  As I looked around my sewing cabin all of these colors started coming together until I saw the quilt take shape in my mind.  I enjoyed working with the color arrangement of fabric pieces for this quilt!

I usually can envision what the finished project will look like before I’ve even cut the fabric.  The top is machine pieced together, marked with Crayola Washable Markers, and hand quilted with purple thread.

To create the shrinking around the hand quilting, I used 100% cotton batting and washed the quilt in warm water and dried it in a dryer when the edging was tacked in place!

Hope the pieces of life are coming together for you!

A Fun Children’s Toy

P1100769

Looking for a simple and alternative children’s toy?

Try a box of fabric scraps of different fabrics, textures, colors, sizes, and shapes. Children four and under love playing with the sensory box of fabric scraps when they come to my house!

The colors, the textures, the random play, and the easy clean up make playing with this toy a lot of fun!  I can honestly say, this fabric box is played with every time we have little people to our home!

Happy Monday!
